What Makes Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee So Special?

Few coffees enjoy the reputation of Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee. The combination of high altitude, fertile volcanic soil, regular mountain mist and a mild tropical climate creates ideal growing conditions for producing exceptionally high quality coffee beans.

Unlike coffees that rely on bold intensity, Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee is celebrated for its balance. It offers a remarkably smooth cup with very low bitterness, gentle acidity and a naturally sweet finish. This elegant profile has earned it a loyal following among speciality coffee enthusiasts for generations.

Strict quality standards also contribute to its reputation. Only coffee grown within the designated Jamaica Blue Mountain region and meeting rigorous grading requirements can be sold as genuine Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee.

About Clydesdale Estate

This exceptional coffee comes from the historic Clydesdale Estate, one of the earliest coffee estates established in the Blue Mountains during the late eighteenth century.

Today, dedicated independent smallholding farmers continue to cultivate coffee across the Clydesdale region using generations of experience. Their harvests are collectively processed under the Clydesdale name before being prepared at the Blue Mountain Coffee Factory in Kingston, helping maintain the consistency and quality expected from genuine Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee.

Every stage of production reflects careful attention to detail, from selective harvesting through to washing, grading and preparation before export to authorised Jamaica Blue Mountain distributors worldwide.

Grade 1 Arabica Typica Coffee Beans

This lot consists entirely of Arabica Typica, one of the world's oldest and most respected coffee varieties. Known for its clean cup, refined sweetness and elegant character, Typica continues to be prized by speciality coffee producers.

The beans are fully washed to enhance clarity and showcase the unique characteristics of their origin. Large screen size 17 and 18 beans, combined with an ideal moisture content of 10 to 12 percent, demonstrate the exceptional quality of this Grade 1 coffee.

With an SCA score of 86, this coffee is officially classified as Excellent, placing it firmly within the speciality coffee category.

Why Is Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee So Expensive?

Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee is one of the rarest coffees in the world.

Only a relatively small area within the Blue Mountains is authorised to produce genuine Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee. The combination of limited production, labour intensive cultivation, strict quality standards and consistently high worldwide demand means supply remains extremely limited.

Its reputation for quality, heritage and consistency has made it one of the most recognised luxury coffees available.

Coffee Freshness

Most of our coffee is dispatched on the same day as roasting, ensuring it reaches you at peak freshness and each bag is clearly marked with a Roasted On date.

To allow flavours to develop and excess CO₂ to dissipated after roasting, we recommend allowing our freshly roasted coffee rest for at least 72 hours before drinking. Don't worry though, it will still taste great if you can't wait that long!

Our packaging contains a one-way degassing valve to both allow the degassing process to continue and keep unwanted air out.

Although our coffee can be stored for up to 1 year, we recommend enjoying within 1 month for maximum flavour. For best results, store your coffee in a high-quality airtight container.
